The Teen Center Without Walls was created by students from a number of different county high schools to offer safe youth driven activities for peers throughout south-eastern Washtenaw County.

This effort is a part of the Washtenaw Area Teens for Tomorrow Safe Places sub committee.  The two youth co-chairs of that committee felt a new organization was necessary to address the lack of safe places for youth to go in Washtenaw County.  When the organization was created, its youth volunteers spearheaded an effort to survey youth in Washtenaw County to see what activities they would like to see in a teen center.  Click HERE to view the results.

The hope is to one day establish a teen center with walls.  We are putting on events to show the leaders in the community that there is a demand for youth programming and the youth in the community would benefit from such a facility.  The county currently benefits from this programming because we can guarantee that all youth who attend our events aren’t doing drugs or participating in other negative activities.  This fits in with Washtenaw County’s positive youth development vision and shows the youth they can have fun and be safe at the same time!
